The Weekly Yelp: Orlando

Yelpy Halloween!

This Weekly Yelp brought to you by Winter Springs Festival of the ArtsOctober 16, 2013
Shhhhh! Don't scream!
BOO! Did we scare you? No, of course not. You're much too smart to — holy cow, what's that behind you?! — Sorry, we couldn’t resist. There's your trick, so how about some treats? We've spooked up a Weekly full of the best Halloween haunts and haps in town.

The Venue (Ivanhoe Village)
"If you don't leave with a smile, you might want to seek professional help," warns Douglass B. "Great people. Great atmosphere. It's a wonderfully intimate space." Boasting "must-see burlesque acts, which are high energy," don’t miss VarieTEASE: "Blood Stained KISS" beginning this week!

Orlando Shakespeare Theater (Ivanhoe Village)
"Small and intimate" is a "huge plus" for Jessica V. "From the third row, it felt like we were a part of the show." This month, get spooked by Dracula: The Journal of Jonathan Harker. "I would love to continue seeing musicals and plays here; everyone was so attentive and helpful!"

Greenwood Cemetery (Lake Davis / Greenwood)
"Yes, I'm reviewing a cemetery. This cemetery rules! You can't really say you live in Orlando without visiting and getting a feel for the history," advises Frances F. "The manager, Don, is so funny and friendly. I really tried to remember just a fraction of the facts he spewed out while giving my own little tour."

The Falcon (Thornton Park)
"First off, the decor is way awesome," begins Bunny N. "Why? Because they have paintings up on the walls everywhere, which you can actually buy." Beginning on the 19th, the 4th Annual Zombie Art Show might just scare your socks off.

City Arts Factory (Downtown)
Yamil N appreciates a "great gallery, and the Halloween theme is super cool." Kicking off a month-long exhibit is the Fourth Annual Dia De Los Muertos & Monster Factory party tomorrow evening. "Free entry, though they do take donations, makes this a no-brainer."
